Ecotourism
Los Buzos has the good fortune to be the gateway to several of Panama’s, and the World’s, natural treasures.
Cerro Hoya National Park - Home to hundreds of rare species including the Azuero parakeet, brown-backed dove, crested eagle, rose-throated becard, black hawk, osprey, and great green macaw. Other regular sightings are tamanduas, sloths, agoutis, white-tail deer, squirrel, white face, & howler monkeys. Cerro Hoya contains the largest remaining area of untouched deciduous dry forest in Panama, providing once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for expeditions.
Isla Canas National Park – Canas Island protects a massive mangrove estuary and natural bay. Wildlife in the estuary include a variety of birds, mammals and reptiles including many resident caimans. The beaches of Canas boast one of the densest populations of nesting sea turtles in Latin America – the reason it was established as a national park.
