Justin Mitchell - Queensland
Justin Mitchell, age 47, is located on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. He fishes offshore on a Stealth 525 Fishing Kayak mainly around South East Queensland and Northern New South Wales. He’s been fishing for many years but only for about the last 5 years off of a kayak. He’s passionate about helping first timers get into the sport and gets as much enjoyment seeing greenhorns catch their first kayak fish as catching fish himself.
Justin focuses mainly on Pelagic fishing, top water species and loves chasing Mackerel in the Australian Summer months. He takes a simple approach to kayak fishing and mainly trolls dead or live baits for hours on end, his theory is the more time on the water and more ground you can cover, the greater the chance of success.
He’s active in kayak fishing competitions in Australia and has had some notable placings in a few competitions. His most notable catch was in 2016 where he caught and released the first Black Marlin ever in an Australian Offshore Kayak Fishing Competition, the Stealth AdderRock Kayak Fishing Challenge. Justin is active on Social Media under the handle name “Godzilla Kayak Fishing” and you can follow him on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
His dream and bucket list catches for Panama are Sailfish, a Trophy Rooster and a Trophy Cubera Snapper. Justin consistently catches fish however it’s mainly Mackerel over 5-6 months of the year and he’s thrilled with the invite and opportunity to fish in the Los Buzos Kayak Fishing World Championship. Justin has high hopes of catching some different species not available in Australia and is looking forward to meeting other anglers from around the world.
