Kevin Frost - Florida, United States
Kevin got into kayak fishing around 8 years ago while living in Jacksonville on the East coast of Florida. His wife, Jessie, and he had just married and she wanted a way to get on the water so he bought a used tandem kayak. They had a blast learning to catch red fish inshore and sharks off the beach. It turned out to be the perfect sport to do together. They quickly stepped up to a Hobie Outfitter for a few years, then after moving to Pensacola Beach on the Gulf Coast they bought a Tandem Island. They have fished and explored all over Florida in the past few years.
Most days he fishes straight off the beach at his house from a L2Fish SUP if he goes solo or uses the TI if he goes with his wife or a friend. Offshore they target Kings, Spanish, Red Snapper, Triggerfish and more. Inshore it’s mostly red fish, sheepshead and trout.
Kevin and his wife started to enter a few local yak competitions in 2015. So far they have won the Offshore Slam Division in the Gulf Coast Kayak Fishing Spring tournament in both 2015 and 2018 and won the 2018 King of the Island Tournament in Pensacola Beach. It’s been a Great Year for them!
He has only fished the Pacific once on a short charter in Costa Rica and is really hoping for the chance at a trophy rooster fish in Los Buzos. The only rooster fish he has ever seen was on a surf trip to Pavones, Costa Rica back in college. Before duck diving under a wave, a giant rooster launched off the lip of the wave right in front of him! He had no clue what it was at the time but it must have been an awesome experience.
Kevin secured his spot for the Los Buzos Championship final by winning the King of the Island- offshore kayak fishing tournament this year.
